Daniel John Buttafogo, Sr

Daniel John Buttafogo, Sr., 87, of Flemington, NJ passed away on October 31, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.

Danny was born in Scranton, PA to Dante & Mary Buttafogo on January 5, 1935.  As a lifelong New Jersey resident, he graduated from New Brunswick High School.  He married Lenore Taroli of Pittston, PA in 1959.  They resided in Piscataway for 40 years before moving to Flemington.  He worked as a Carpenter for Local 1006, Milltown, NJ for over 40 years, where he also served as Union President for 15 years.  He was on the Board of Townsende Homeowners Association, where he resided in Flemington, for over 20 years.  He was an active member of St. Magdalen de Pazzi Roman Catholic Church in Flemington.  He was a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and loved listening to Elvis music.  He was a great storyteller and enjoyed bringing laughter to those who knew him.

Danny is preceded in death by his parents Dante & Mary Buttafogo and brother in law Henry Taroli, Jr. and sister in law Emily Taroli.

Danny is survived by his loving wife Lenore, children: Daniel, Jr. (Dorothy), Ronald, Richard and Linda, grandchildren: Daniel, III (Holly), Robert (Madeline) and James, great grandchildren: Reagan, Daniel IV “DJ”, Sadie and Everly, siblings: Dolores Ford and Joseph (RoseAnn), brothers and sisters in law: Gerald Taroli, Donald Taroli (Debbie), Marilyn Taroli and many nieces, nephews, cousins, countless friends, wonderful neighbors and Union brothers who loved him. 

Danny always spoke of his love of family, and the joy his grandchildren and great grandchildren brought to him.  Also, the joy his “grandpets” gave him.

 The family asks that no flowers be sent and that in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center, 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, NJ  08822 or hunterdonhealth.org.

The family of Danny wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff at Hunterdon Medical Center, Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center and Adult & Pediatric Urology of Hunterdon.

Friends may visit the family on Saturday, November 19 from 10:00-11:00am at St. Magdalen de Pazzi Catholic Church in Flemington. A memorial mass will then be celebrated at 11:00am. All other services will be held privately.
