It is with very heavy hearts that we announce that Christopher S. Garnecki, 52 of Washington, NJ passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 1 at Morristown Medical Center with his loving wife and close friends by his side. Born in Plainfield, he was the son of John Garnecki, Sr and the late Anne Triano.
Chris battled cancer with a smile on his face, and a joke to make you laugh. He was able to charm an entire hospital, and was known in every department as, “our favorite patient “.
Chris took pride in giving 110% to any job, from waiting tables and tending bar, to installing fire alarms at LaGuardia Airport. He made a lasting impression on anyone he worked with or for. He celebrated his 15 year mile stone at Siemens in February 2018.
Chris loved opera, cooking, and dining in restaurants. He was quite a talented chef and his many delicious meals will be greatly missed.
Chris’s true passion in life was animal rescue. He fostered countless dogs, and kept any dog that couldn’t be adopted. Chris loved to play a game called, “ How many dogs can you fit into a Siemens truck?” His heart was also captured by his many feathered friends at A Helping Wing Parrot Rescue, where Chris spent his free time as a volunteer. He cleaned and built cages, transported and nurtured many birds. Armed with zip ties and duct tape, Chris could fix anything! He also provided the comedic entertainment while grilling an excellent meal after a long days work.
Chris was predeceased by mother, Anne (Nancy) and by his grandmother Anne. He is survived by his loving wife, Kimberly, his father, John and his brothers John and Robert as well as by his niece and nephews.
Friends may visit the family on Thursday, August 6 from 9:00-11:00AM at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave in Dunellen. A funeral service will then be held at 11:00am at the funeral home, with interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway. All services at the funeral home will be held outside behind the building. All Covid 19 restrictions are still in place. In lieu of flowers, donations are asked in Chris' name to the animal rescue or cancer charity of your choice.
