Charles W. Ens, III

Charles William Ens III, 66, of Monroe Township, passed away on November 11, 2022 at home surrounded by his family.

Charles, known to most as “Buzzy”, was born in Staten Island to Charles and Joan Ens on April 1, 1956.  He grew up in Lake Nelson attending Piscataway schools. He served in the US Army from 1973-1978 before beginning his career as a life long truck driver. He most recently drove for Izzi Trucking & Rigging traveling across the country for the last 10 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 253 in Spotswood. As a member of the Legion Riders Club, he enjoyed his love of motorcycle riding with friends and family. He felt happiest at home, out on his deck, while his grandchildren played in the yard and pool. All who knew him would say he had the biggest heart; that he was always ready and willing to help, going above and beyond for anyone. 

Charles is preceded in death by his father, Charles William Ens Jr.; his brother, Alan Ens; and his brother-in-law, David Underwood.

Charles is survived by his partner, Judith Collins; his daughter, Jennifer Michalowski and husband, Robert of Spotswood NJ; his daughter, Jacqueline LaFerriere and husband, Jason of Toms River, NJ; his son, Charles Ens IV and wife, Michelle of Middlesex, NJ; his grandchildren, Amber, Alexis, Jake, Hunter, Owen, Siena, Evangeline, Olivia, Raymond, Calvin, Charles V, and baby granddaughter arriving in December; his mother, Joan Ens of Spotswood, NJ; his sister, Joan Perricone and husband Robert of Woodland Park, NJ; his sister Theresa Hager and husband John of Spotswood, NJ; and his sister Susan Underwood of Sarasota, FL.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Legion Post 253 in memory of Charles “Buzzy” Ens at P.O. Box 56, Spotswood, NJ.

Friends may visit the family on Tuesday, November 15 from 4:00-7:00pm at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave in Dunellen. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 16 at 11:00am. All other services will be held privately.
