Charles A. Nappa

Charles A. Nappa, 89 of North Plainfield, passed away on November 30, 2021 at home after a long illness surrounded by his loving family.

Charles was born in Plainfield, NJ to Antonio and Gaetana Nappa on December 12, 1931. He attended public schools in Plainfield and graduated from Plainfield High School. He married Eleanor (nee) Melillo on May 24, 1953 at Sacred Heart Church in South Plainfield, NJ. Charles worked as a self-employed contractor and single-family home builder throughout the Somerset County area for over 30 years. Previously, he was employed at Mack Motors and also, the proprietor of a home improvement business in Plainfield. He attended St. Luke’s Roman Catholic Church in North Plainfield, where he was a member of the Buildings and Grounds Committee. He also enjoyed Friday afternoon Bingo in the church hall.

Charles is preceded in death by his brother, Anthony Nappa and sister Katherine Nappa, Mary Nappa, Antionette Muldowney, Margaret Semiraro, Virginia Tibaldi.

Charles is survived by his wife Eleanor and children (and spouses) Barbara (Andrew) Brownbridge, Charles (Frank Kotulka) Nappa, Anita Nappa and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit the family on Friday December 3 from 2:00-4:00 at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Avenue in Dunellen. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 at the funeral home. Cremation will be held privately.

Memorials or donations may be given to Habitat for Humanity and/or any local food bank or pantry.
