Charles B. Shefsky passed peacefully on May 18, 2024. A Chester resident, Charlie had lived in Green Brook for over 65 years.
Charlie was born on September 10, 1941 in Bayonne, NJ to the late Charles and Helen Shefsky. He grew up in Green Brook and graduated from Dunellen High where he met his high school sweetheart, Carolyn. Carolyn and Charlie were married for 60 years and raised a beautiful family of which he was very proud.
While proudly serving his country in the US Army he was stationed in Germany. Living in Germany with Carolyn, family summers in Lavallette, his weekly breakfast with his buddies, and his daily chats with his best friend Timmy were some of his favorite memories. He loved being a member of the Solberg hunting club and being on the Musky River fishing. He was an avid outdoorsman.
Charlie was a past member of the Warren County Rod & Gun Club, and a former coach for Little League baseball and Washington Rock Pop Warner football. Charlie mostly enjoyed Fox News, fishing, hunting, and watching his grandchildren play sports. He recently spent several weeks in Florida with his wife and his son’s family where he was able to enjoy some fishing and attend his grandchildren’s, soccer, baseball and softball games.
He loved to cook and some of his famous recipes, like his chicken wings will live on forever. He will always be remembered for his infectious smile and his bright blue green eyes. He would talk to everyone and brighten their day from the cashier to the waiter.
He leaves the love of his life, his wife Carolyn (nee Klein) Shefsky; his beloved son and daughter in law Adam and Danielle Shefsky; his cherished grandchildren Brooke and Brandon; and many more dear relatives, friends and fellow hunting and fishing enthusiasts. His sister Mary Field and his twin sister Genevieve Soden passed before him.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, May 28 from 4pm to 7 pm at Sheenan Funeral Home Dunellen. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 29th at 11 AM at St. Lawrence the Martyr Parish, Chester, NJ. Flowers are lovely, but those who wish, kindly consider a donation in his memory to the good work of the Green Brook or Chester Rescue Squads.
