Carolyn Gang Obituary

On January 3, 2022 Carolyn Gang, (nee Pollard) beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many passed away at the age of 80.

Carolyn was born in Bloomfield, NJ to Thomas Henry Pollard and Edna Jorgensen in 1941, and grew up in Bloomfield NJ. She was an adoring daughter to both her parents maintaining a very close relationship throughout their lives.  Carol’s childhood included being surrounded by her many aunts, uncles and cousins who all lived “in town”.

Carol’s best friends throughout her life remained her brother Eddie and sister Linda who were always there for each other in good times and bad.

She always had a strong “redhead” personality, and would defend those she loved without hesitation or fear.  As a teenager in the 1950s, Rock N ‘Roll was just emerging and she fully embraced it, and was right in style for a teen in that era.  She taught her brother how to dance and they would spend most of their time at The Hop and liked to drag race his supercharged Plymouth convertible against “anything willing to race” them.   Carol also enjoyed spoiling her younger sister, and had a lot of friends in high school.

At 16, she worked at a department store and enjoyed going to the ice cream shop, Bonds, with her friends. She loved the Jersey shore and her summer home in Seaside Park which was the place of many a summer barbecue and family party throughout the years.

In the mid 1960s, she started working at Union Carbide where she met Edward Gang at a company bowling league and married him in 1968 in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The family relocated to New York in 1975 when the company moved.  She found genealogy fascinating and was able to trace the history of her family back many generations and was proud of all of the discoveries she made.  Carol valued her independence and stood very firmly on her set of values.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, husband Edward, and son Sean. She is survived by her 3 children Tom, Scott & Kristin, 5 grandchildren Tommy, Katie May, James, Alyssa, and Michael, sister Linda and brother Ed.   Carol was fiercely protective of her family including many nieces and nephews, and loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart.
