Carlos A. Gonzalez, age 85 of Dunellen, passed away on Friday May 2, 2025 in Bridgewater. He was the beloved husband of the late Teresa Gonzalez.
Born on January 17, 1940 in Guayaquil, Ecuador, he was the son of the late Carlos and Carmen Gomez de Gonzalez.
Carlos began his career overseeing parks and recreational facilities for the local municipality. It was in Ecuador where he met the love of his life, Teresa, through mutual friends – a love that would span decades and continents.
After years apart, they reunited in 1968, and he left everything behind to join her in the United States, where they married on August 11th of that year.
A devoted husband, and hard working immigrant, he held many jobs before building a long career as a superintendent and handyman for high-rise buildings, proudly serving 40 years with 32 B&J.
He and his wife became U.S. citizens in the 1980’s, raising their three daughters with deep love and dedication. In his later years, he cares tenderly for his wife during her illness, never leaving her side until her passing in 2014 after 46 years of marriage.
A passionate musician, he loved singing, playing guitar, organ, and accordion- especially during family gatherings. He found joy in walking, dancing, fixing cars, and traveling, but nothing made him happier than being with family. His greatest pride was his grandchildren, and his legacy of love, hard work, and music will live on through them.
Surviving are his three daughters; Cynthia Gitoneas (husband William), Monica Moberly, and Diana Caruso. His grandchildren; William Gitoneas, Andrew, Christian, and Brielle Moberly, Madelyn and Calianna Caruso. His sisters; Nelly Estrada (husband Simon), Sonnia Rodriguez (husband Modesto), and Gloria de Zambrano.
