Bill Arms, Whiting

Bill Arms, a long-time resident of South Plainfield, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2024.  He shared 79 years of love with his family.  Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 22nd from 5-8 pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 23rd at 10:30 am the funeral home.  Interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. 

Bill was born Howard W. Arms to the late William and Tillie Arms. After his schooling he enlisted with the US Army National Guard, proudly serving in the reserves for many years. 

Bill's life took a wonderful turn at the “circle” in New Brunswick when he met Carol Morris. Their adoration and love for each other led them to marry six months later. Together, they eventually settled in South Plainfield, where they raised their three children.

A dedicated and hardworking husband and father, Bill operated “Bill Arms Trucking” for over 53 years, ensuring a good life for his family.

Bill was a man of many interests. He was a member of the Queen City Pigeon Club, dedicating time to raising & racing pigeons. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage, working on old cars and hot rods, a hobby he cherished throughout his life. He never passed up the opportunity to catch a boxing match or a good old Western. These were usually enjoyed with his dog Tillie at his side or in his lap.

Above all, Bill enjoyed being with his family.  His favorite times were with those who called him Papa.  He was so proud of his grandchildren.

He is survived by his devoted wife Carol, his children Daniel (Karina), Kelly Baron (Stan) and Kimberly Poling (Timothy Jr.); his cherished grandchildren Angel, Michael, Matthew, Adriana, Sophia and Dylan; and many more dear relatives and friends.
