Bertha Nye Krieck, 92 of Dunellen, NJ passed away peacefully on her 92nd birthday on December 4, 2020 at JFK Hospital in Edison N.J. She was born in 1928 at the Bound Brook Hospital and lived in Dunellen her whole life before moving to Brighton Gardens Assisted Living in Edison in 2018. She was the daughter of the late Mary Emerick Nye and Charles W Nye.
She was a graduate of Dunellen High School in 1947 and worked for the Bell Telephone Company. She married the love of her life, Martin W. Krieck on May 8th, 1948 at Saint John’s Church in Dunellen where she has been a parishioner most of her life. She lived in their house on Front Street for almost 70 years. She was a member of the VFW Post #5479 in Dunellen and also a member of The First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association.
She is survived by her son Martin, Jr and his wife Claire of Wynantskill, NY, her daughter Ann Carron of Piscataway, NJ. and her son-in-law Peter Demchak of Manville, NJ, her son-in-law Dennis Cobo, Sr of Springville, NY as well as her 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She hosted holidays at her house and created many memories for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a strong, Christian woman who will be missed by many. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 67 years, Martin W. Krieck, her daughters Barbara Demchak and Patricia Cobo and her grandson Jason Carron.
Friends may visit the family on Friday, April 9, 2021 from 5:00-8:00PM at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave in Dunellen. A funeral mass will be celebrated for Bertha at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church Dunellen on April 10 2021 at 11:00AM. Interment will follow at Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St John’s Church in Dunellen in her memory.
