On July 19, 2023 Barbara A. McHugh (née Kobylanski), beloved mother, wife, sister, and friend, passed away at the age of 71.
Barbara was born on December 13, 1951, the middle child of 3, to Ferdinand Kobylanski and Cecelia Kobylanski (née Terrick). After meeting in a literature seminar, she married Tom (Thomas) McHugh in 1977. Born in Braddock, PA Barbara moved with her husband and daughter to Ohio and Colorado before settling in New Jersey and passing her final decades in Dunellen. Barbara earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from LaRoche College in Pennsylvania. She worked as an Administrative Assistant, specializing in corporate law, until her diagnosis of epilepsy caused complications forcing her to retire early.
Barbara was an avid reader who also loved crafting her own stories. She enjoyed making beaded jewelry and visiting local gardens including Duke Gardens and traveling to Longwood Gardens annually.
Barbara loved her family deeply. She was delighted when, later in life, she had a second opportunity to share a home with her brother, John Kobylanski. Barbara was overjoyed when her older sister Mary Moya (née Kobylanski) visited Dunellen in 2021 from her home in Peru. Barbara found great joy in spending time with her only daughter, Tullia McHugh-Milano, her son-in-law, Mackenzie Milano, and her step-grandson, Nathaniel Milano.
Barbara is predeceased by both her parents. Her memory lives on through her husband, daughter, and siblings. Barbara is survived by loving family and friends who will miss her dearly.
Viewing to be held at Sheenan Funeral Home at 233 Dunellen Ave, Dunellen NJ 08812 on Tuesday, July 25 from 2p – 3p with cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to The Epilepsy Foundation (www.epilepsy.com).
