Barbara J (Germann) Kappelmann, 79 of Green Brook/Ortley Beach, NJ passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Community Medical Center, Toms River, NJ on July 31, 2025. Barbara was born on October 30, 1945 in Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, PA to Raymond Germann Jr and Janet (Lamont) Germann. Barbara moved to New Market and later Dunellen, NJ at a young age. Barbara graduated from Dunellen High School where she met the love of her life, Al. They were married December 10, 1966 and moved to Green Brook, NJ. Barbara is predeceased by her Father, Raymond Germann Jr, Mother, Janet (Lamont) Germann, Brother, Raymond “Buddy” Germann III, and her loving husband, Alvin P Kappelmann Jr, victim of WTC 9/11. Barbara is survived by her daughters, Melanie McKeown and husband Colin and Kristen Bivona and husband Salvatore, granddaughters, MaryKate McKeown, Kerri McKeown and her “amazing handsome” grandson, Salvatore “Trip” Bivona III, the light of her life and many other friends and extended family. Barbara was a home maker along with being a member of the Green Brook Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Barbara and Al had a beach house in Ortley Beach, NJ, “her true happy place” where she spent most of her time with endless family and friends that were welcomed to “crash” anywhere they could. She cherished building memories, watching weekly fireworks, sunsets, moon rises, collecting sea glass and was an avid Yankees fan. She was known to many as Momma K, Mom, Mema, Fairy Grandma and Baboo. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her viewing on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Sheenan Funeral Home from 4 to 8 PM and on Friday, August 8th from 8:45 to 9:45 AM and to her funeral service at 10 AM at First Presbyterian Church of Dunellen. Entombment will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, Basking Ridge. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Barbara's memory to Tunnels for Towers which held an important place in her heart would be appreciated.
