Anna Rose Sarao Obituary

Please Note: Anna did pass away on June 1, 2020. We listed her date of passing as September 1, 2023 so that it would move to the front of the list. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023 from 10:00am-12:00 Noon at the Sheenan Funeral Home in Dunellen. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11:30, with burial of cremains to follow at Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway.

Anna Rose Tampoia Sarao, 104 from Wilmington, DE, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2020 at Cadia Health Services in Wilmington, DE. Born in Somerville, NJ on September 26, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Anna and Frank Tampoia of Bound Brook, NJ.

Anna Rose retired as a Manager in Women's Sportswear at Macy's in Plainfield in 1980. She lived in Middlesex, NJ until she was 90 years old. While living there, she was a devout member of Our Lady of Mt. Virgin Parish. In 2006 she moved to the Springmill Community in Middletown, DE. Anna Rose loved to travel abroad with her sister Annette. She also loved going to Atlantic City. She was a fabulous cook and loved to host her entire family for all of the holidays. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt to her family, and she was a wonderful friend. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. The most important thing in the world to her was her loving family. She had a zest for life. When she reached her 100th birthday, she received a birthday card from President Barack Obama of which she was very proud.

She is survived by her son Michael John Sarao, Jr, husband of Brenda, of Bolivia, NC; siblings Annette Ianelli of Wilmington, DE; Edith, wife of Frank Minor of Center Harbor, NH; Grandchildren Stephanie wife of Stephen Stratigakis;Elizabeth Cotty wife of Adam Yackanech; Suzaane Cotty and Christopher husband of Marissa Marton Sarao. Great grandchildren Kyle Cotty-Mize and Sofia Sarao. Nieces and nephews: Marie wife of Kenneth Campion, Anita Smith wife of Jeffrey, David Minor husband of Julia, Janis Stokes, Diane wife of Brian McCrudden. There are several Great Nieces and Nephews.

In addition to her parents, Anna Rose was preceded in death by her husband Michael John Sarao, Sr.,her daughter Mary Lynn wife of Thomas Vincent and her brothers John and Michael Tampoia.
