Anna Marie Horai

Ann Horai of Charlotte, NC died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, surrounded by three of her children.

A native of Brooklyn, NY, she was born to the late Teresa and Joseph Reisinger on March 31, 1927 and was the big sister to Joe.  She was a nurse in the Dunellen NJ public school system and after retirement moved to Charlotte, NC.  

Mrs. Horai was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Charlotte where she and her husband served their church family faithfully for over 30 years. 

Mrs. Horai is preceded by her mother and father, her husband Stephen J. Horai Jr and son Stephen J. Horai, III.

Mrs. Horai is survived by her brother, Joseph Reisinger of Charlotte, children, Ellen Horai of Charlotte, Karen Hamilton of Charlotte, NC, Joanne Hall (Dennis) of Raleigh, NC, Michael Horai (Jan) of Charlotte, Barbara Castiglione (Jimmy) of Edison, NJ; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. 

Ann endured plenty of life’s trials while remaining faithful with a sense of calmness and the ability to make the best of what life offered her.  She was there for all the big things in her family’s lives and perhaps just as import, for all those regular things that made life with her so special.

Her departure has left a void inside us all.  She was an extraordinary daughter, sister, wife, mom, grandmother, great grandmother and compassionate tender nurse.  She loved her family with a passion that could only be surpassed by God’s love.  

The family will receive friends at 11 AM Friday, January 28 at Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave., Dunellen, NJ followed by entombment in Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick, NJ.
