Anna Marva Obituary

Anna Marva, age 99, of North Plainfield, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 7, 2020 at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, NJ, with loving family by her side. She was born to the late Anna Dudas and Michael Businda on July 12, 1920 in Menlo Park, NJ. Her childhood home was located across the street from the laboratory of Thomas Edison, and she often spoke of meeting the famed inventor as a young girl. Anna graduated from Metuchen High in 1938. Her first job was at Cornell Dubilier in South Plainfield, NJ where she met her future husband. Anna was also employed by Western Electric in Kearny, NJ and Burroughs Corporation in Warren, NJ. She was a longtime resident of Dunellen, NJ and Ocala, FL before settling in North Plainfield where she was an active member of Saint Luke’s Parish. Anna was a social butterfly who was happiest when spending time with her family and friends. She was a devoted volunteer and enjoyed helping with activities at Saint Luke’s and with the Senior Citizens Group at North Plainfield Community Center. Anna enjoyed baking traditional Slovak desserts, rose gardening, reading, and watching her beloved Dallas Cowboys. Anna was predeceased by her loving husband Charles M. Marva, who passed away in 2008, her sister Mary, and her brother Charles. She is survived by her brother Michael, her son Robert and his wife Judy, her daughter Deborah, five grandchildren; Jason, Michele, Lindsay, Michael, and Jeff, and thirteen greatgrandchildren; Sophia, Henry, Mallory, JP, Lorelei, Alaric, Brian Jr., Kaden, Charlie, Ryan, Jacob, Braeden, and Kyle. Anna will also be forever remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. All services are private. Anna will be entombed next to her loving husband Charlie at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield. A celebration of Anna’s life will be held at a later date.
