Ann Marie Heaslip Obituary

With heavy hearts we share the passing of Ann Marie Heaslip. She leaves a lasting mark of love and selflessness on all who knew her.  Ann Marie passed peacefully in the early hours of March 27, 2024.  Friends and relatives may visit on Wednesday April 3rd from 10 am – 12 noon at the Sheenan Funeral Home.  A prayer service will begin at 12 pm followed by interment at Holy Redeemer Cemetery.

Ann Marie was the middle of three daughters born to the late Alexander and Dorothy (Tomko) O’Kunak.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Her unwavering love and compassion enriched the lives of her family and friends. She found true joy in nurturing her loved ones, always putting their needs above her own.  She worked for Keystone Community Living and had a special way of connecting with the residents, buildng lasting relationships.  She was generous and hardworking and instilled these values in her family.

Her passion for nature and beauty was evident in her gardens. An artist at heart, Ann Marie found solace and expression through her oil paintings. With each stroke of her brush, she captured the beauty of the world around her.  Among her most cherished memories were the weeks spent in upstate New York, at “Gramp’s house”. Surrounded by family and nature, dancing to polka music, there was no better place to be.

She leaves joyful memories to her husband Richard of 58 years; her daughter Lynn Scala (the late John); grandchildren Jennifer and Matthew Scala and Alexander O’Kunak; sisters Joanne Fenchock (the late Michael) and Charlotte Mowrey (Harry); daughter in law Christine O’Kunak; nieces and nephews Maryann, James and Stephen Fenchock and Richard and Harry John Mowrey; great niece Joanna Mantilla; and many more dear friends and acquaintances. Although we are saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing her beloved son Richard O’Kunak greeted her at St. Peters gate.  We can almost hear her laughter and joy from Heaven.
