Alfred E Lindorff Obituary

Alfred E. Lindorff, 95, of Edison, New Jersey, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at JFK Hospital in Edison. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of Peter and Elizabeth (Kondas) Lindorff.

Al served his country honorably in the US Army during World War II.  PFC Alfred E. Lindorff was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds he received in combat on February 20, 1944 in Italy.  Upon returning home, Al worked as a mechanic at Difeo Buick in Jersey City before his retirement over 30 years ago. While retired, he enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 851 in Dingmans Ferry, Pennsylvania, where he lived for many years with his brother, Francis and his sister-in-law, Vicki.  After he moved back to New Jersey to live with his sister Irene Applegate, Al became a member of Bound Brook Lutheran Church. Al moved in with Ray and Dianne where another generation of children called him "Uncle Al", a title he was very proud of.  Alfred was a genuinely nice, kind, and gentle man who loved spending time with family and friends.  He also enjoyed watching western movies. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Alfred was predeceased by his parents and all of his siblings: George, Elizabeth, Francis, Lillian and Irene. He was also predeceased by his most beloved nephew, Raymond Applegate, whom he helped raise. He is survived by his niece, Dianne Applegate, and by his great-nieces and nephews, Jennifer Novack and her husband, Travis Novack, Lauren Applegate, James Applegate and Matthew Applegate.
