Zigmund J. Gabruk, 91, formerly from Clinton Township passed away peacefully on Saturday; February 17th, 2018 at Hunterdon Medical Center with his loving family by his side. Born in Plainfield, he is the son of the late Stanley and Josephine Gabruk.
Zigmund worked as a Social Worker for many years for the Union County Board of Social Services. He honorably served our country during WW II in the U.S. Navy. Zigmund earned his undergraduate degree at Rider University then completed his Master’s at Rutgers University. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Zigmund is predeceased by loving wife Lena (2010). He is survived by his 4 children; Linda Gabruk of Massachusetts, JoAnn Gabruk Schoemann of California, Barbara Vitale and husband Robert of Stewartsville, and Robert Gabruk and wife Karen of Flemington, 6 grandchildren; Samuel, Megan, Jillian, Natalie, Jeffrey, and Lauren, and many loving nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation on Saturday; February 24th from 10-11AM at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave, Dunellen. A committal service will follow at 11:30AM at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Zigmund’s name to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, Office of Development, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr. Tampa, FL 33607.
