Sergio Perez, 46, of North Plainfield, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2019 at JFK Hospital in Edison with his loving family by his side. Born in Mexico, he was the son of Eustolio and Claudia Perez.
Father of mine, friend of everyone: Sergio loved to spend time with all of us. He never wanted us to fail at anything. He loved to watch his favorite team, the New York Giants. At the end of a long day, he would go downstairs to have a cold drink with his best friend, Rich. He would say, “I’m talking to the boss about I important things.” He was a loving husband, great friend, great mentor. We will all miss him very dearly. This is not a goodbye, this is a “See you later Goyo.” Sergio worked in the restaurant industry his whole life, and was currently the head chef at the Dunellen Hotel for the past 15 years.
Sergio is survived by his mother, Claudia Perez, his loving wife, Manuela Santiago, his adoring children: Annalee Perez, Alexis Perez, Eustolio Perez, Milagros Perez, Zonia Perez, Daisy Perez, and Henry Perez as well as by his cherished granddaughter, Katherine Cojon.
Friends may visit the family on Sunday, October 13 from 4:00-7:00pm at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave in Dunellen. A mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 14 at 10:00am at St. John The Evangelist Church in Dunellen. Burial will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield.
