Mary Nagel, 80, died peacefully in her sleep on Good Friday at Green Knoll Center in Bridgewater. She was born Mary Ann Charest in Neshanic in 1937. She grew up in South Bound Brook and graduated valedictorian from St. Peter’s High School in 1955. Mary raised her five children in Middlesex and worked at Phillips Van Heusen in Piscataway for over twenty years. She spent most of her retirement years volunteering at Hunterdon Medical Center while living in Lebanon and Ringoes.
Mary enjoyed the theatre, art, music, reading, traveling to California and Florida, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Mount Virgin church in Middlesex.
Mary was loved and will be remembered by her family: daughter Maureen Nagel of Middlesex (her children Lisa Mangold, Scott and Kristopher Fellin); son Mike Nagel of Piscataway (deceased; his wife, Joan, and their children Jonathan and Kimberly Nagel); daughter Lynn Nagel of Pleasanton, CA (her husband, Will Lipman, and their children Max and Zoe Lipman); son Bill Nagel of Arroyo Grande, CA (his wife, Grace, and their son, Vincent Nagel); son Ed Nagel of Jacksonville, FL (his wife, Kathy, and their children Derek Newton and Connor Nagel); brother Allan Stone of Staten Island (his wife, Kathy); brother Kenneth Stone of Westmoreland, TN (his wife, Christine, deceased); sister Linda Daniel of Dallas, TX (her husband, Larry); her parents, William and Emily Charest of South Bound Brook (both deceased); sister Jeanette Lane of Davenport, FL (deceased; her husband, Richard); sister Joan Charest of Annandale, NJ (deceased; her son, Thomas McGarry); and sister Pat Charest of Fort Meyers, FL (deceased).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Easter Seals of Hunterdon County or Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
There will be a viewing from 4 to 7 PM on Friday (4/21) and funeral services at 10 AM on Saturday (4/22) at Sheenan Funeral Home in Dunellen.
