Joni Jean McDougall, 57 of Dunellen, passed away on Friday, June 15 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Somerville, with her loving family by her side. Born in Plainfield, she was the daughter of Raymond Eugene Balaney and the late Evelyn Marie (Cortez) Balaney.
Joni loved being at the shore. She loved to crochet and was also an avid reader. She had a passion for game shows, with Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy among her favorites. Joni was also a huge John Mellencamp fan. Her greatest joy however came from her loving family and keeping a happy and supportive home. Joni left this world much too soon and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Besides her mother, she is predeceased by her brother, Frank Balaney and her sister Jacqui Bianchi. Joni is survived by her beloved husband Bob, by her cherished daughters, Kimberly and Rachel of Dunellen. She is also survived by her father Raymond Eugene Balaney, her sisters; Pam Steves of Stewartsville, Sandy Doyon and husband Tommy of South Plainfield, her brother John Balaney and wife Francine of Stewartsville as well as by many nieces and nephews and by her dog Tate.
Friends may visit the family on Tuesday, June 19 from 2:00-4:00 and from 7:00-9:00pm at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave in Dunellen. A mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 20 at 11:00am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Dunellen. Cremation will be private.
