James Joseph Duhamel Jr. (Jim) passed away on what would have been his 60th wedding anniversary to Mary Duhamel, July 11, 2019. He was surrounded by his children, his sister Dorothy and brother-in law Albin Cofone. He was 83 years old.
Jim was born on March 21, 1936 in Brooklyn New York. He went to Farmingdale College and worked as a chemist for National Can Company in Piscataway, New Jersey. This is when he moved to Dunellen, New Jersey and raised his family.
Jim loved Dunellen and has so many wonderful friends who he has enjoyed spending time with over the last 57 years. He has been working at the Dunellen Parking Authority for many years. Jim has also been a member of the Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, a coach and volunteer in town. He was a volunteer at JFK Hospital for 25 years. He especially liked volunteering with the Senior Citizens. Jim was also actively involved with Saint John the Evangelist Church.
Jim loved to travel and was always open to new adventures. He was an avid golfer and fisherman. It was impossible for him to be around people and not strike up a conversation. His zest for life and love for his friends and family gave him so much joy.
James was predeceased by his wife Mary, his parents, James and Elizabeth and his brother Paul. He is survived by his daughter Kim Duhamel and Michael Kelly, daughter Catherine Auffenorde and husband Tom, son James Duhamel and wife Debbie. His grandchildren, Daniel Auffenorde, Sarah Auffenorde, Jimmy Duhamel, Ryan Duhamel, Kate Duhamel and Lauren Cardone meant the world to him. He is survived by his brothers William Duhamel and Phillip Duhamel and his sisters Dorothy Cofone and Betsy Haslam and his many nieces and nephews.
