Helen Bennett Obituary

Helen A. Bennett of Piscataway and formerly of Dunellen, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at RWJUH in New Brunswick, NJ with her loving daughter Barbara and loving grandson Michael by her side. She was 93 years old.  Born in Springfield, MA, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Moskovitz) Dennis.

Helen was a homemaker and the loving pillar of her family.  She especially loved the Holidays when she could host dinners with the entire family around the table. She was the person who could always be counted on to listen attentively, to give wise advice and to deliver unconditional love when it was most needed.  She was an avid reader, an early adopter of iPad technology and an inveterate NY Yankees fan.  If she didn’t do the daily word puzzle in the Courier News, it was because they didn’t print it that day.  She loved her afternoon nap and attributed her perennial good health and long life to it.  She was a convert to the Roman Catholic faith and a 50+ year parishioner of St John’s Church in Dunellen.  As the daughter of Russian immigrants, she loved the United States of America and possessed a deep understanding of the blessings it confers on its citizens.

Helen was predeceased by her beloved husband Les in 2001.  She was also predeceased by her loving sisters, Vera Olsen and Sophie Kelly, and her loving brothers, John Dennis and Alex Dennis. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Derczo, her son Leslie Bennett and his wife Joanne (Nelson) Bennett, her grandson Michael Patrick Derczo, her granddaughters Kelly Marie Bennett and Lindsay Elizabeth Bennett and her great grandchildren Amelia Anne Oddo and Grace Elizabeth Oddo.

She will be greatly missed by the family canines Cedar, Loki and Nyx.
