Eileen Marren Obituary

Eileen M. Marren lee Carter, 99, of Piscataway, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 13, 2020 at her home peacefully in her sleep. Born in Chicago, she is the daughter of the late Mary Rebecca and Peter Burton Carter.

Eileen, a Veteran, served honorably as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. She worked as a Directory Assistance Operator for NJ Bell until her retirement in 1975.  She was very talented.  Some of her hobbies were:   counted-cross stitch, sewing, crocheting, crewl work, and beaded ornaments.   She loved to travel and visited many states.  She bowled in mixed leagues in Green Brook and Manahawkin where she lived for 10 years.   She was an avid reader and loved taking her books and sitting on the beach.  Also, she was a die-hard Mets fan from their inception in 1962 to the present.  She visited her son in Florida upto the age of 97 so she could attend Mets Spring training games. 

She is predeceased by her husband Thomas E. Sr, (1990) and daughter Jo Anne Hnilicka (2017.) Eileen is survived by her son Thomas E. Jr Marren and wife Antoinette of Florida, daughter Patricia E. Vargo and husband Joseph of Dunellen, and son-in-law Grant Hnilicka of Toms River.   7 Grandchildren, Theresa Marren, Todd Marren, Jennifer Riche and husband Bill, Robert Pagano, Emilie DeNapoli and husband Justin, Michelle Sabatura and husband Troy,  and Joseph T. Vargo and wife Katherine.   9 Great-Grandchildren, Stephanie and Samantha Riche, Vincent, Rebecca, Dale, Mark and Travis Pagano, and Cole and Brielle DeNapoli.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her,

A Memorial Mass with be held at St. John's Roman Catholic Church in Dunellen on January 31, at 11 am.
