Edward A Boniakowski, 88 founder of E A Boniakowski Agency, Inc

Edward A Boniakowski, 88, of Green Brook, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 15, 2018 with his loving family by his side. Born in Plainfield, he was the son of the late Joseph and Helen (Meleski) Boniakowski.

He was raised in Dunellen, NJ and moved to Green Brook with his wife Eleanor where they co-founded E A Boniakowski Agency, Inc. an Insurance and Real Estate agency in 1950.  In addition to his real estate career, Ed played the accordion and was the leader of a Polka Band “Eddie and the Polka Barons”.  He provided the entertainment at many social events and weddings.

Ed was a long time member and past president of the Green Brook Lions Club and was honored with the Melvin Jones Award for his service as a Lion.   He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus chapter #2544, the Middlesex Elks Club, the Polish Falcons Nest 281, the 200 Club and the Green Brook Golf Club.   Ed was a member of the Diocese of Metuchen Serra Club and hosted the monthly masses at his home.   Ed was an active member of Polish American Cultural Endeavors and was honored as the PACE Man of the Year in 1984.   He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Virgin Church in Middlesex.

Ed was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying camping and fishing trips to remote areas of Canada, Alaska and the Arctic Circle with his sons and close friends.    In the later years, his wife Patty and several of their grandchildren joined him on the annual Canada trip.  He was also an avid traveler.   He is remembered by all who knew him for his great sense of humor, his jokes, his love of entertaining with his accordion and gardening.  His 4 lb heirloom tomatoes were the talk of the town. 

Ed was predeceased by his wife of 49 years Eleanor and his daughter Ann Marie.  Ed is survived by his wife of 18 years Patty Boniakowski, his sons Joseph and his wife Mary, Woody and his wife Evelyn, Tom and his wife Yvette, Stan “Bunky” and his wife Kathy, his daughters Janet Kowal and her husband Jon, Doris Zampella and her husband Stephen, his son-in-law Ted Lowery, his stepsons David and wife Carol, Dan and wife Mickie, his stepdaughters Karen Nuchols and husband Rob, Donna Connor and Cathy Sokolowski and husband Joe.   Ed is also survived by his 24 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Friends may visit the family on Thursday April 19 from 2:00-8:00pm at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave in Dunellen. A mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 20 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Mt Virgin Catholic Church in Middlesex. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway.    Should friends desire, contributions can be sent to the family who will direct them to several local charities or send a memorial donation to the charity of their choice.
