Stephen D. Piluso, 85, a longtime resident of Piscataway, died on Friday; May 27, 2011 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was born in Long Island City, NY and had lived in Elizabeth before moving to Piscataway in 1956. Stephen was appointed in 1967 Building Inspector for Piscataway where he served for 27 years before his retirement in 1993. Before and after, he was a self employed construction builder and general contractor. Some of his projects were the New Market Fire House, the Arbor Rescue Squad, All Saints Lutheran Church and one of the first Little League Fields.
He served as president of Church Brook Development Corp., was member and Past President of both the Piscataway Lions Club and the Rotary Club. He also was Charter member of the Piscataway Elks Club, Honorary member of the American Legion, Director of the Piscataway Chamber of Commerce and Honorary Committeeman for the Democratic Committee. Stephen was also a long time member of the Piscataway Italian American Club. In addition to all his memberships, he also enjoyed playing cards, golf, cooking & photography. Stephen was a WWII Navy Veteran and a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Piscataway.
His wife Letitia died in 1993.
Surviving are; 10 children, Laura Vivers of Scranton Pa., Susan Britton and her husband Michael of W. Milford, Debbie Fash and husband Andrew of Piscataway, Stephen Jr., also of Piscataway, Daniel of Somerset, Lisa Stoothoff and husband Anthony of Overland Park, Kansas, Stephanie Cammallere and husband Anthony of Freehold, Michael Lombardi and wife Cindy of Hamilton, Vincent Lombardi and wife Robbie of Flemington and Victor Lombardi and wife Ulrike of Montclair, 16 grandchildren, Cortney, Juliann, Rachel, Andrew, Alex, Austin, Aiden, Andrew, Sarah, Caroline, Henry, Nicholas, Olivia, Thomas, Anna and Anthony.
Visiting will be Tuesday; May 31, 2011 from 2-4PM & 7-9PM at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave., Dunellen. There will be a 10:30AM Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Piscataway. Interment at Resurrection Burial Park, Piscataway.
