Steve A. Klastava, 98, of Scotch Plains, died peacefully at his home Oct. 24, 2016, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Dickson City, Pa. where he grew up, until moving to Scotch Plains 44 years ago. He was employed with Wilcolator in Union, working in the thermostat division, then afterward he worked in the maintenance department of parks and recreation for the town of Scotch Plains from 1968 until his retirement in 1984. Steve was a member of the American Legion Post 209 in Scotch Plains where he was in charge of the American Legion Baseball, and he was also a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army. His wife Margaret and a son Stephen both died in 2006. Surviving is his son David (Patricia) and a daughter Margaret Klastava, both of Scotch Plains, a daughter-in-law Kathleen Klastava of Hillsborough, 4 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
Visiting will be Thursday October 27 from 4:00-8:00PM at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave., Dunellen. A Divine Liturgy will be held on Friday October 28, 9:30AM at St. Nicholas Byzantine Church, Dunellen, where he was a communicant.Burial will follow at Resurrection Burial Park, Piscataway. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Steve's name to St. Nicholas Church, 121 Madison Ave., Dunellen, NJ 08812.
