Stephen J. Horai, 88, of Charlotte, NC., died Mon. July 11, 2016 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House- Southminster, Charlotte, NC. A native of Staten Island, NY Mr. Horai was born to the Late Cecilia & Stephen Horai on Oct. 11, 1927. He was a US Navy veteran and member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Charlotte. Mr. Horai was an ordained deacon and member of the first diaconate class to be ordained by the Diocese of Trenton in 1977 and he faithfully served his parish as a deacon for over 30 years. He was preceded in death by a son Stephen J. III and a brother Edward.
Mr. Horai is survived by his wife Anna M. of Charlotte, children Ellen Horai also of Charlotte, Karen Hamilton of Piscataway NJ, Jo Anne Hall (Dennis) of Piscataway, Michael Horai (Jan) of Charlotte, Barbara Castiglione (Jimmy) of Edison, 16 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
Visiting will be Monday July 18 from 6:00PM-8:00PM at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave., Dunellen. There will be 10:30AM Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday July 19 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Piscataway. Entombment Franklin Memorial Park in North Brunswick Township.
