Mary "Betty" Elizabeth (Lavelle) Fulton

Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Fulton, 85 of Bridgewater, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 10, 2017 at RWJ Medical Center in Somerville with her loving family by her side. Born in Plainfield, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Lillian Elizabeth (Doherty) Lavelle.

A longtime resident of North Plainfield, Betty was a parishioner of St Joseph’s Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Rosary Society. She was a member of the Democratic Club as well as the PTA.  She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Betty also had a love of reading, knitting, sewing and gardening, but her greatest joy came from her loving family and keeping a happy home. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Betty was predeceased by her beloved husband John in 1992, as well as by her brothers, Michael and Robert Lavelle and by her sister Veronica Cook. She is survived by her 6 children: Son David James Fulton and wife Karen of Cumming, GA, son Christopher Robert Fulton and wife Susan of Bridgewater, daughter Jeannie Elizabeth Fulton and husband Steve Hrnciar of West Milford, son Steven Michael Fulton and wife Lisa of Millington, daughter Jacqueline Lavelle Kelly and husband Dirk of Newton, daughter Suzanne Fulton Hawley and husband Willard of Belleville MI. Betty is also survived by her 11 cherished grandchildren, Patrick, Joshua, Megan,Christopher,Jennifer,Michael, and Vincent Fulton, Thomas, Steven and Daniel Kelly, and Jacob Hawley, as well as by her brother John Lavelle of Myrtle Beach, SC.

A viewing will be held on Monday, February 13, from 2:00-4:00 and from 6:00-8:00 at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave in Dunellen. A mass will be celebrated on Tuesday February 14 at 10:00 am at St Joseph’s Church in North Plainfield followed by burial at Holy Redeemer in South Plainfield. Betty’s family would like to thank the staff at Eastern Star Home in Bridgewater for their loving and thoughtful care of their mother over the years.
