Joseph A. Juarez, 87, of Piscataway passed away on Thursday; April 27th, 2017 at JFK Hospital in Edison with his loving family by his side. A lifelong resident of Carteret, Joseph was born to the late Maria (Yanez) and Joseph Juarez.
Joseph was born in Perth Amboy, NJ and served his country honorably in the United States Army, having fought in the Korean War. He worked as maintenance mechanic for over 25 years at FMC in Carteret before retiring in 1992. Joseph was a lifelong member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Carteret as well as a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Piscataway . He was an avid reader who loved to sit down with a good book. He enjoyed trains and watching the Mets play, and loved listening to big band music. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Joseph is predeceased by the love of his life Lavinia (1999), he is survived by five children; James and his wife Barbara of Springfield, Susan Juarez-Pezza of Perth Amboy, Roberta Wendt of Hazlet, Gail Ogden and her husband Paul of Piscataway, and Brian and his wife Denise of Kernersville, North Carolina. He is also survived by his ten Grandchildren; Angelo, Joseph, Joshua, Eric, Kyle, Sarah, Shannon, Samuel, April and Zachary, and two Great-Grandchildren; Adriana and Justina, and many loving nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation on Sunday, April 30th from 2-4 and 7-9PM at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave., Dunellen. There will be a mass of Christian Burial of Monday, May 1st at 10:30AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Piscataway. Burial will follow at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia.
