Gina DiCosola

Gina DiCosola, 50, of Somerset, NJ, passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth, NJ with her loving family by her side.

Gina was born in Brooklyn to Rocco Louis DiCosola and Jean (Barbieri) DiCosola. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. Gina taught for nearly 30 years at St. Genevieve Catholic School in Elizabeth. She was not only dedicated to her students, but to the entire St. Genevieve community and was inspirational through her faith and her commitment. Gina was a caregiver, always putting the needs of others first. Her greatest joy came from caring for her beloved family. She left this world much too soon and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Gina was predeceased by her father, Rocco Louis DiCosola in 2015 and by her sister Michele in 2002. She is survived by her loving mother Jean; her beloved sister Ellen Cackowski of Metuchen; her beloved brother John DiCosola and wife Cheryl of Wheaton, IL,; her nephews, Andrew and Matthew Cackowski, Joshua DiCosola and her nieces, Rebecca, Rachel and Grace DiCosola as well as by many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 16 from 2:00-4:00pm and from 7:00-9:00pm at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave in Dunellen. A mass will be celebrated on Wednesday May 17 at 1:00pm at St. Genevieve’s Catholic Church in Elizabeth which coincides with Gina’s 51st birthday. All other arrangements are private.
