George J. Grady, 82, of Basking Ridge, passed away peacefully at Fellowship Village in Basking Ridge on Feb. 6, 2017. He was born in Yonkers, NY , grew up in Jersey City NJ and No. Plainfield NJ where he graduated from No. Plainfield High School in 1952. He and his wife, the Late Alice who died in 2001, lived in Dunellen for many years before moving to Gold Canyon AZ in 1989. He moved to Basking Ridge last year. George was a machinist and salesman for Virkotype Industries in Plainfield for 40 years before his retirement in the 1990’s. He also was a Navy veteran serving honorably during the Korean Conflict. George was a former member of the American Legion in Dunellen.
His brother Francis died in 2015.
Surviving is a son Larry of No. Brunswick, a daughter Stacey Grady of Basking Ridge, and a sister Dorothy Maritz of Middlesex.
There will be a memorial gathering on Sat. from 1-3 PM at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave., Dunellen with a 2:30PM memorial service same day. Cremation was private.
