Donald A DeLisle, 84, passed away suddenly at his home in Dunellen, on Wednesday, October 4. Born in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late Arthur and Mary (Roy) DeLisle.
Donald served his country honorably in the United States Army. He was awarded the Purple Heart, for wounds received in combat during the Korean War. After the war, he remained in the Army, serving as an MP and later in the National Guard. He worked as an electrician, and later as a security officer at JFK Medical Center in Edison. Mr. DeLisle was an accomplished musician, playing both the steel and lead guitar. He had a love for country music, especially George Strait. Donald was a devout member of the Carmelite Order of Flemington. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Donald is survived by the love of his life for 45 years, Debbie (McCurdy) DeLisle. he is also survived by his 9 children; Belinda, Mark, Lance, Kim, Dawn, Michelle, Anthony, Kym, and Debbie. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Donald is also survived by his sisters, Adrienne, Delores and Audree. He is predeceased by his brother Lucian.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, October 10 from 7:00-9:00pm at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave in Dunellen. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 11 at 10:30am at the Woodbridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Woodbridge, with entombment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations are asked in Donald's name to the Carmelite Order of Flemington at flemingtoncarmel.org
