Chester Louis Zarnowski, “Chet”, died peacefully in Bangor, Pa. July 12, 2016 with his loving family by his side. He was born in Brooklyn 72 years ago and had lived in Dunellen before moving to Bangor 20 years ago. He was a Lieutenant for the NJ Department of Corrections in Annandale for 25 years ago before retiring in 2007. He also served honorably in the National Guard and Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post 258 in Blairstown NJ, the Bangor Elks 1106, the Fraternal Order of Police #169, the Police Benevolent Association Local 600. Chet also served as fire police for the Lower Mt. Bethel Sandts Eddy Fire Department.
Chet was also a Gold Valor Award recipient for saving the life of a child in a Dunellen fire many years ago.
Predeceasing him are his parents Chester and Irene, and 2 brothers Francis and Alfred.
Surviving is his wife Kim, a son Andrew and his wife Julie of Va., a daughter Kristin and her husband Andrew of Pa., 4 grandchildren, Kody, Allison, Hailey, and Joseph, and his mother-in-law Rosemary Harding of Piscataway.
Visiting will be Thursday, July 14 from 4:00PM - 8:00 PM at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave., Dunellen. There will be a 10:30AM Mass of Christian Burial on Friday July 15. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Piscataway. Interment will follow at Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway.
