Charles F. Fitzgerald, 87, of Warren, passed away peacefully on Friday; March 30th at his home with his loving family by his side. Born in Cedarhurst, Long Island to the late Charles and Ellen Fitzgerald, he has resided in Warren for over 50 years.
Charles was raised in Mendham, NJ, and was employed by NJ Bell Telephone Plant specializing in Installation, Repair and Management before his retirement in 1985 from the AT&T NASM Group in Woodbridge, NJ. He faithfully served our Country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus Council #5959 Martinsville, NJ and served as a past Grand Knight & District Warden #68. Charlie was a retired member of the North Jersey Board of IABBO. He was a Past President of the St. Mary’s Parents Guild and Past Recreational Commissioner in Warren, NJ. He coached little league and basketball in Plainfield and Warren, NJ. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Dorothy Hamill, 3 sons; Thomas Fitzgerald and wife Nancy of PA, Charles P. Fitzgerald of Warren, and James Fitzgerald and wife Kleiza of PA, 2 daughters;
MaryEllen Jenzer and husband Werner of PA, and Noreen Fitzgerald of TN, Brother Robert Fitzgerald and wife Judy, 5 Grandchildren; Chad T. Fitzgerald and wife Maya, Ashley and Bridget Fitzgerald and Timothy and Keri Jenzer and 2 Great-Grandchildren, Meisa and Seina Fitzgerald.
There will be a visitation on Friday; April 6, 2018 from 4-8PM at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave., Dunellen. A funeral mass will take place on Saturday; April 7th at 10AM at Our Lady of the Mount Roman Catholic Church, Warren. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge. In lieu of flowers donations in Charlie’s name can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and Knights of Columbus, Council #5959 Charities, 1890 Washington Valley Rd, Martinsville, NJ 07920.
