Charles Henry Burke

Charles Henry Burke, 88, of Bridgewater, New Jersey, died unexpectedly on October 6, 2017, at his residence.  He was the loving husband of Marion Burke, who died in 2016. Charles was born in Plainfield, New Jersey, and resided in Dunellen until 1967, at which time he moved to Bridgewater. Charles was an Army Veteran, having served honorably in the Korean War. Thereafter, Charles worked as a carpenter for Dunellen Builders and Somerville Carpenters Local #455 for 45 years before his retirement several years ago.  During his lifetime, Charles also worked for Art Color in Dunellen, repaired boats for D&R, sold insurance, and was a proud member of the NRA.

Charles shared a love of the outdoors with his family, spending much of his time tending to his garden, hunting with his son-in-law, Denny, and family friend, Mike Martino.  Charles also shared a loved of racing, whether it be watching his son, Chuck, race boats, or attending his grandson, Jesse’s, dirt racing events over the years.

Surviving is his loving daughter, Beverley Hartman, and her husband, Dennis, of Flemington; his, son, Charles Burke, and his wife, Mary, of Brick; a brother, Robert Burke, and his wife, Gloria, of Green Brook; and, his cherished grandson, Jesse Hartman, and his wife, Kelly, of Whitehouse Station.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, from 5:00pm-9:00pm at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Avenue, Dunellen, New Jersey.  There will be no services, and cremation will be private.
