Bertha "Bert" K (Govlick) Zupko

Bertha K. "Bert” Zupko, 92, of Middlesex, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 4, at RWJUH in Somerville with her loving family by her side. Born in South Plainfield, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Helen (Jalzek) Govlick.
Bert was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Virgin Catholic Church in Middlesex. She was also a member of the Columbiettes, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus, as well as the Altar Rosary Society. She was always keeping busy, whether it was working on crossword puzzles, playing cards, or attending her Friday coffee klatsch. She loved to sing with the Sweet Adelines. Bert also loved to cook and bake; anyone who tasted her scrambled eggs or her chocolate chip cookies never forgot them. Her greatest joy, however, came from providing a happy and loving home for her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her .
 
Bert was predeceased by her beloved husband Fran on August 24, 2017, as well as by her daughter Amy Capaldo. She is survived by her loving children--her daughter Jean Zupko Garrett of North Plainfield, her daughter Laura Zupko Philip and husband Richard of Phillipsburg, PA, her son Francis “Frank” T. Zupko, Jr., of North Plainfield. 
Bert is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Alison Anne Philip, Richard Patrick Philip, and Jacob Capaldo, as well as by her brother George Govlick and his wife Sandy of Williamsburg, VA, and by her son-in-law Richard Capaldo of Bangor, PA.
 
Friends may visit the family on Wednesday, March 7, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Avenue, in Dunellen. A mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 8, at 9:30 am at Our Lady of Mt. Virgin Catholic Church in Middlesex. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Mausoleum in Piscataway.
