When I count my blessing I always include the love, hugs, kindness, dance, music, and fatherly advise that I received from Mr. Al Rifino. I was blessed to have known him and will continue to be blessed by my memories of the time I was privileged to spend with Mr. Al Refino.

After reading Mr Rifino's obituary one realizes that the man didn't ever sleep over the past 92 years. Finally he can rest.

My sincerest condolences upon the death of Al. I am a first cousin to his beloved wife Joy and Lived with Joy's parents where Joy, Al and children lived upstairs. Lots of fond memories of Al. He would come home from work and put the "victrola" on and play "From the Vine Came the Grape" every night like clockwork. I had the fun of babysitting their children and watching them grow up to wonderful adults. What an experience to read all of Al's accomplishments. I do recall the "fllyovers" at 600 Grove Street in Dunellen. To Al's "children" my prayers and sympathy for you at the loss of a Dad I know you loved and enjoyed all your lives. He will be missed to be sure. My condolences to the rest of the Rifinos' as well.

To Julie and Family,

Dan and I will never forget the welcoming we got from Al when we moved to the neighborhood. We were sitting on the front porch shortly after we moved in and we saw this little man walking up the street with roses and a box of candy. Not knowing who he was, we looked at each other and commented "Look how cute...that man is bringing roses and candy to his girlfriend". Low and behold, he walks up our walkway to the porch to welcome the new neighbors to the neighborhood. He asks "where is the lady of the house?" We told him there was no lady...it was just us. He replies "Crap...I'm not giving you flowers but here's the candy". To the neighbor next door he says "Would you like flowers?" From that day on, Al always had a place in our heart, especially for that awesome welcome. Rest in Peace Our Friend!

Al was such a great guy. We were so proud to know him; how many people get to live across the street from a real WWII fighter pilot? I used to brag about knowing him. He would come over with Joy to talk to Tim and me when they would be walking over to Julie's. He could be a little randy, which took a little getting used to, but he was always sweet and funny. Every time our dogs bark in the house we tell them to "be quiet because Al does NOT like dogs barking". He used to tell me to let Joy have "that dog" for a day or two to straighten them out. I really loved knowing them both, I miss him...

The first time we met Al was shortly after we moved to Dunellen Ave. He showed up at our door with a box of candy and flowers to welcome us ito the neighborhood. Over the years Al became to us the neighborhood watchdog and genuine friend. Once he gave Judy a lecture about mowing the lawn in flip flops. He wouldn't leave until she went in the house and put tennis shoes on! While we laughed, we were really appreciative that he cared. Once my mom was up to visit and I was pushing her down the street in her wheel chair. Al came up to us to meet her and proceeded to tell her how beautiful she was and how she didn't look a "day older than 75!" I was so grateful for that. That's the Al I will remember. He always went out of his way to make sure we knew we were cared about. Over the years, we have gotten to know several of Al's family. You, too, go out of your way to make sure people feel special and cared about. Perhaps that is a piece of Al in you. We are grateful to have known him...and we wish his beloved family comfort in knowing he made a difference in our lives.

Al was always there to help in case of a family emergency. I remember when he rushed our Dad to Muhlenberg when he had his stroke. I remember his Father who told me I looked like the great Michaelangelo when I was painting the house. I remember the old dance studio. If one word describes Al it is unique and that is a great compliment for anyone. Condolences from our entire family.

Our sincerest condolences to Anita and her family and all of Al's children and grandchildren.
Many fond memories of growing up around Al. He used to take me for rides in the rumble seat of his little car. Then, when he was flying, he would buzz the barbershop and get into trouble with the Dunellen Police Department. He asked my mother, Felicia one time if he could take me up in his plane and my mother said, "NO". He was quite a daredevil.
He was brilliant in his job at IBM and was a master of the Hammond Organ.
He will be sorely missed, but now he is with the love of his life, Joy.

Much love and prayers for the whole family,
Cousin Lydia Rifino Boylan
