Agnes L. Perry, a lifelong resident of Piscataway, passed away peacefully at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick on Aug. 19, 2016 with her loving family by her side. She was born in Piscataway and was 85. Agnes worked as an Administrative Manager for 15 years for ATT in Piscataway before retiring in 1993. She was a long time communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Piscataway and also was a member of the Rosary Altar Society and the Senior Citizens of Piscataway.
Agnes was so much more than words can express. She was a spiritual woman, beautiful on the inside and out. She loved God, her wonderful husband (Tom) and all of her family. Agnes was a member of a large Irish family, with ten siblings. She and Tom, also gave life and love to their five children and their spouses. Agnes cherished her 24 grandchildren and great grandchildren. All learned the true meaning of unconditional love, because that is exactly what Agnes gave them. Through tough times and good fortune, through failures and successes, through sorrow and joy, Agnes’ children, grandchildren and great grandchildren felt her love and unending support. All who knew her were aware of her amazing strength and courage. Agnes fought a battle against breast cancer, with disabling side effects for 35 years. Despite living with daily pain, she always remained determined and hopeful, ensuring that “cancer” would not get the best of her! Agnes won that battle and many others. She was known by all who loved her as a caring fireball! She was feisty and never afraid to speak her mind, especially when defending the character, potential, and rights of her loved ones. Most recently Agnes wrote a hard-hitting Letter To The Editor regarding the need to free hard-working college students from unreasonably large debts, simply because they sought to better themselves. Agnes is at peace, in Heaven, with her loving Lord. On earth, she will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Surviving is her loving husband Thomas, a son Thomas and wife Maria of South Plainfield, 4 daughters Mary Baughman and husband Ronald of Sunnyvale, TX., Janet Swierc and husband Stanley of Ormond Beach Fl., Elizabeth Jordan and husband John of Deptford, Eileen Calo and husband David of Clark, a sister Catherine Colfax of Whiting, a sister-in-law Irene Kee of Auburn, Cal., 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Monday August 22 from 2:00-4:00 PM and from 7:00-9:00 PM at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave in Dunellen. A mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 23 at 10:30AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Piscataway with entombment following at Resurrection Burial Park, Piscataway.
Donations in Agnes’s name would be appreciated to Our Lady of Fatima Church .
